Alcatel-Lucent CWA/IBEW Academic Awards Program

For Children of Alcatel-Lucent Employees

The Academic Awards Program Description

This program was established to help students earn undergraduate degrees. The award provides for UP TO $6,500 for one academic year of full-time study.

A total of 15 new scholarships are granted each year to the children of CWA and IBEW represented employees. The award may be renewed each year for not more than three years or until a degree is earned, whichever comes first. Renewal of awards requires a 2.75 cumulative grade point average, continued parental employment and adherence to the student code of conduct. Award amounts will be determined on the basis of school costs reduced by other scholarships. All recipients must provide and update information about all scholarships they receive, whenever a change occurs.

September to December 31Students must complete the 2010application and mail it to Scholarship Management Services along with current high school grade transcript.

December 31 Application postmark deadline.

Alcatel-Lucent: QJSA Option for 2009

We have received the following information from David Birdsong, Senior Manager of Workforce Relations at Alcatel-Lucent, regarding the New Qualified Joint Survivor Annuity (QJSA) Option for 2009.

Alcatel-Lucent will be adding a 75% Qualified Joint Survivor Annuity (QJSA) option to the Lucent Technologies Inc. Retirement Plan and the Lucent Technologies Inc. Pension Plan in order to comply with Section 1004 of the Pension Protection Act of 2006. This new option will be available to any participant commencing a benefit on or after January 1, 2009. The 50% QJSA will continue to be the default option.
